"I am deeply committed to supporting our
island's families and a sustainable future for our island and our Port."

With a mandate to foster island-appropriate and sustainable development, the Port of Friday Harbor must find ways to focus only on those initiatives that offer clear community benefit. while at the same time preserving commitments to existing stakeholders and projects.

This means more community input, more focus on family-wage jobs for islanders in industries that complement our community, careful thinking on development of Port properties and a strong and sustainable vision for how new projects can dovetail into an overarching mission that benefits the public.

This means a critical look at proposed Port projects and a re-focus on island resilience, including agriculture, industries offering family-wage jobs, and new technologies.

We also need a strengthened commitment to existing Port stakeholders – the business tenants, boaters, pilots, and island community the Port serves - and careful work to ensure that existing projects are successful.

My history with our community spans over 30 years, including as a business owner and currently as the director of the Economic Development Council - a small nonprofit working to improve the economy of San Juan County.

The Port has been guided by the same policies for many years. It’s time to open new doors to resilience, jobs for our families, and stronger commitments to islanders.  Together, we can work toward our future as islanders.  I ask for your vote to make this happen.
